Today, Fri is a WED

5th June is a World Environment Day.

Haiyaahhh.. I wasn't even aware of this, until an email from Hj. Ali came into my office mailbox.

Just so it happened, I didn’t ride to work today. Conserving effort for tonight’s night ride at Danga Bay. As if…

For me, everyday and every moment, I personally consciously do whatever I can in a small way for my bit.

Haji Ali is correct in his email:

Let's at least keep the trek green...
Reduce personal carbon foot print....
More walking, cycling than driving...

think green

I don't really calculate how much I save on petrol bills when I RTW. Non-monetary benefits that I get out of it, however, I cherish so much:
  • Stress buster. A way for me to vent my steam - through the pedals.
  • Workout for my health. Remember - health is wealth.
  • Disciplined, time-wise. I seldom arrive at the office later than 0740 hours on my RTW days.
  • Being green - one less car on the road (and one free parking space in front of my office for others too).
  • Saves me money. I'm less prone to divert to hypermarkets or even a sundry shop, compared to if I'm driving the car.
However, you can calculate how much you save by riding a bicycle to work with tips from Azizan.

I'm not really a green guy, but I like to think that I contribute a small part whenever I RTW.

bring back our wrappers

Tonight, at 8.30pm households and corporation buildings (or any building for that matter) would observe the Earth Hour. I'll cast (rather, switch) my vote insyaAllah.

However, I'll extend my vote to the outdoors as well. I'll never leave any trash however small it may be, on the bike trails and road wherever I pedal. Simple, and hopefully a constant effort from me, insyaAllah.

You can join me too. If we can bring our loads of wrapped food, bottled water, wrapped spare tubes and boxed cigarettes into the trail, we can surely bring the much lighter wrappers and cig butts out, and dispose them responsibly.
