Research - Toxic Cities Mock 'Healthy' Cycle Riding

Elemeekkk...

The real solution is to find a route that cuts through kampung roads, or roads with fewest engine powered vehicles. Or, we can cycle on the road when it is relatively clear of vehicles - much earlier than the rush hour in the morning, and a bit later in the evening. The benefit is two-in-one: lesser chance for an accident to happen, and lesser smog. Added bonus if there are no playful dogs on your route.

Keep finding the best solution, and keep on rolling. Be safe, all the time.

Thanks for coming over.
Have a good weekend!

What a feeling, on the saddle again for RTW.
Really need some, for I feel my pants are a bit tight. The numbers confirmed it, my weight is now 72kg. That's more than my average of 70kg. I guess it compounded from Aidilfitri feasting, lack of riding these past few months, and being happy with Umar's growth. Seems like I'm getting bigger along with him. I really don't like my body to be in this state, really. Have to find the time for my kilometers.

On the way back, I went through Kg. Baru Masai. A mother doggy chased me for about 50 meters. Good sprint I had, indeed.

a week without cycling

It was a week without cycling last week.

Didn't do any RTW, and didn't go for any offroad ride. Missed the Kota Tinggi Rainforest Hash. Okay, except for the few rounds around the housing area with kids on Saturday evening.

Thankfully the bash last week was quite dry, so the bike doesn't need to be washed (read: m/a/l/a/s).

How does it feel? Hmm... different. As in *lembab*. Got to have some spinning on the pedals this week. Felt like doing the RTW this morning, but I can't. Anyway, the lembabness got me. Would have to have a strong will to re-start on Wednesday.

However, I was able to get into facebook (wow, so many updates after a long while) and found this photo from Cycling Asia. A consolation for the week.

carbon clavicle, anyone?

inForm Technology Aids in Lance Armstrong's Recovery
from:
http://www.bontrager.com/news/inform_technology_aids_in_lance_armstrongs_recovery/en dated 1st. April 2009.

Armstrong and equipment sponsor Bontrager, jointly announced that he was the world's first recipient of an inForm® Full Carbon Clavicle Upgrade

Few points there:
  • Bontrager not only sponsor bike equipment, but venturing into body replacement parts as well.
  • Clavicle Upgrade. Yup, you get lighter clavicle. I wonder if there'll be another surgery for the left clavicle - just so to balance things out.
  • There are always opportunities for every mishap.
  • There are unlimited ways to April Fool
'Nuff said. It woulda be cool, though.

65kg today

I am not that particular about my weight.
However, I noticed that beginning from Ramadhan I lost a few kilos from my normal 70-72kg.
This morning I stepped on the weight scale and whoa! I weigh 65 kg now.
Definitely it's because of the weekly night rides and also RTW, plus weekend offroad rides.

During these past couple of months I also noticed that I could not use my belt anymore. I could, if only I punch another hole to make it fit my slender waistline. Not too fond of doing that. So I resorted to using my 9 year old belt - part of bride's wedding gift for the bridegroom. Also, my pants appear baggy and loose.

I have not seriously given the thought of buying a couple of new pants to suit.
This, my friends, is a prove that the outcome of losing weight, keeping fit and healthy is also a bit expensive :)
On the other hand, I'm happy to report that I could wear my old jeans again (my wife likes this - I appear sexy in them).

Anyway, no signs of my 6-pack emerging yet.
:)

I'm not sure what my height is, so I couldn't check my BMI.
Heck, I'm not even sure what my waist measurement is.

Eat To Win (or merely to survive)

I found this article in MB Action.

For those participating in Survive The Sahara Jamboree Ride in a few day's time, this might prove as a good thing to do.
Don't bother about Payday candy bars or Gu as suggested. I don't think we have them here in Malaysia.
Remember to pack your bananas...

I won't be joining the ride, though :(
Y'all have a good one!

goin' bananas

Wondering what's the fuss about bananas, I googled 'banana as energy booster'.
In a nutshell (or banana skin):
Banana contains three natural sugars: sucrose, fructose and glucose. Combined with fiber, it gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Well, apart from serving as an energy booster, there are other uses as well.
Ladies (or is it actually men) might be interested in it.
